DRAWBACKS OF PLASTIC SURGERY

For some people, plastic surgery is a technique to reclaim one’s physical appearance after a disaster such as an accident. While for other people, it is a way to modify certain cosmetic defects. Irrespective of the reasons for plastic surgery, there are some shortcomings which are associated with the procedures, and they must be looked into before having the surgery.

  • Medical hazards: Just like any other surgery, plastic surgery comes with some medical complications, with the eventual one being death. Now, there are some generic risks which are linked with plastic surgery, and they include: infection, critical bleeding¸ nerve injury which could cause numbness, necrosis, seroma and hematoma. Also, some conditions such as thrombosis and blood clots are also likely during plastic surgery.
  • Appearance: One of the demerits which comes with plastic surgery, is having scars. These scars are referred to as hypertrophic scars, and they are usually red and very thick. It is very unusual to see these scars fade off, like those which are obtained during a conventional surgical procedure. After the surgery, there are swellings and bruising, and it is very difficult for them to fade off. To make things worse, if the plastic surgery is done on the face, it becomes very obvious. Some patients do not usually know the effects of a surgery procedure until it has been completed, and most times, they are not usually satisfied with the outcome.
  • Cost: Hardly would you see a plastic surgery procedure which is cheap, as a good number of them are very expensive. The costs are usually exhaustive, as they comprise of all the cost which you would incur from the start to the end of the procedure, and most times, they are required to be paid at once before the surgery commences.
  • Addiction: This is a factor which sets in after an individual has undergone plastic surgery. This happens most times when the individual is satisfied with the outcome of the first procedure, and he feels more can still be achieved by correcting other flaws in the body. With time, the individual would want to change his entire outlook to his preferred choice.

If care is not taken, the individual would run out of money, and poverty could set in.
